Fossify Calendar does not ask Android for the internet permission, so it could not phone home if it wanted to. It has day, week, month, year and event-list views, recurring events, reminders, holidays, widgets and calendar import and export, and the project says it has no ads or tracking. The code is GPL-3.0 and the app is on F-Droid and Google Play.

Fossify Calendar scores a 5 on footprint and self-direction, a 4 on lock-in and power and a 3 on longevity and delivery.

Fossify does not run a sync service, so calendar data syncs through accounts or providers already set up on the device, and for a calendar of your own you would pair it with DAVx5 and a server. The repository page says it syncs with Google Calendar, Outlook, Nextcloud, Exchange and more, while the website says it runs no sync service, so check how syncing works for your setup. The page names no developers and gives no funding detail beyond a Fund link.

    What stands out

  • A calendar app with no ads, no tracking and no internet permission
  • Syncs through accounts already on the phone, with no sync service of its own
  • GPL-3.0 and Android only

This badge reports a dated review. It is not a certification and it costs nothing. Link it to this page and leave the numbers alone: the image always shows the current score.

For comparison, we also reviewed Google Calendar (16/30) as a benchmark.
