Google Calendar
The calendar most of us share a schedule through, kept inside one big company's account.
Benchmark review. Giants are reviewed rarely, to show what the tools in the directory are measured against. This one is not listed in the directory, and it is an example, not a recommendation. Scores are our opinion on the six questions, based on public sources and dated October 2026.
Google Calendar is where invitations go to arrive, and the schedule for a whole family or company often lives there. Google's help page says content on a personal account is private to you unless you share it, that on a work or school account your administrator may be able to view your calendar, and that Google accesses private content only with your permission or when required by law. It says it processes calendar content for spam filtering, virus detection, malware protection and search within your account, and that data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
The same page says Google does not use information in apps where you primarily store personal content for advertising. Power is a 1 because one company sets the terms and the schedules of everyone you invite sit in its account. As of October 2026 this is our opinion, based on public sources, and if you spot an error, write to hello@toolsforconviviality.org and we will check it and correct it. Compare it with the tools in Calendar.
- Private to you on a personal account, and visible to administrators on a work account
- Google says it does not use this content for advertising
- Encrypted in transit and at rest, by Google's account
