Instead of Google Calendar, Google Contacts

Baïkal was created by Jérôme Schneider at Net Gusto and fruux, and its repository says it is now developed by volunteers. It is a Calendar+Contacts server under GPL-3.0 that does the same job as Radicale, with your calendars and contacts on a server you choose.
Baïkal scores a 5 on lock-in, a 4 on footprint and power and a 3 on self-direction, longevity and delivery.
The page lists no requirements, platforms or price, and its Releases section was empty in what we read, so check how recent its last release is before you rely on it. It is a server, so you need a client app to read it.

This badge reports a dated review. It is not a certification and it costs nothing. Link it to this page and leave the numbers alone: the image always shows the current score.
For dark backgrounds, use baikal-dark.svg in place of baikal-light.svg.
For comparison, we also reviewed Google Calendar (16/30) as a benchmark.
