Etar calls itself a material designed open source calendar for everyone, and it works as a front end to Android's own calendar storage, showing all the calendars your phone already syncs. It is licensed GPL v3 only, it shares calendars as ICS files and imports and exports from an SD card, and its latest F-Droid version, 1.0.57, is from July 2026.
Etar scores a 4 on footprint, lock-in, self-direction, power and longevity and a 3 on delivery.
It has no CalDAV of its own, so syncing a server calendar means pairing it with a sync app such as DAVx5. Its permission list is long, including reading contacts and adding or changing events and emailing guests without the owner's knowledge, so give it a look before you install. The page names no developer.
- Shows every calendar your phone already syncs
- GPL v3 only, updated July 2026 on F-Droid
- No CalDAV of its own, and a long permission list

This badge reports a dated review. It is not a certification and it costs nothing. Link it to this page and leave the numbers alone: the image always shows the current score.

For comparison, we also reviewed Google Calendar (16/30) as a benchmark.
