Lingva is a translation page that borrows Google's answers. It scrapes the results from Google Translate and shows them to you without your browser touching a Google service, and the project says that prevents Google from tracking you. It offers over a hundred languages, the official instance runs on Vercel, other people host instances, and you can deploy your own, including from a Docker image. The code is AGPL-3.0.

Lingva Translate scores a 4 on lock-in and self-direction, a 3 on footprint, power and delivery and a 2 on longevity.

The translations still come from Google, so this is a privacy middleman and not an independent translator, and the page does not say what Google can see of the instance that sends the requests. Anything that scrapes a page depends on that page staying as it is. If you want no Google at all, the on-device tools in this category are the answer.

This badge reports a dated review. It is not a certification and it costs nothing. Link it to this page and leave the numbers alone: the image always shows the current score.

For comparison, we also reviewed Google Translate (17/30) as a benchmark.
