Instead of Microsoft Store, Mac App Store

On Linux, the same app used to need a different recipe for each distribution, and Flathub is the shared shop that ended that. It is a community-run app store for Linux that works across distributions, built on the Flatpak format, and each app's page shows the permissions it asks for.
Flathub scores a 4 on footprint, lock-in, self-direction, power, longevity and delivery.
Its own page does not say that every app must be open source, and we have not checked how it labels the ones that are not, so it scores a 4 where it might have scored a 5.
Browsing it means a list of apps that all install the same way, each with its permissions on the page.
- The main app store for Linux, across distributions
- Each app shows the permissions it asks for
- Does not require every app to be open source

This badge reports a dated review. It is not a certification and it costs nothing. Link it to this page and leave the numbers alone: the image always shows the current score.

For comparison, we also reviewed Google Play (15/30) as a benchmark.
