Some people spend an evening switching off a browser's settings one by one, and LibreWolf is what you get when somebody does it for everyone. It is an independent, community-driven build of Firefox that aims to remove all telemetry, includes uBlock Origin and uses stricter defaults. It uses Firefox's engine, so most sites work, and it runs on Windows, Mac and Linux.
LibreWolf scores a 5 on lock-in and self-direction, a 4 on footprint and power and a 3 on longevity and delivery.
The strict defaults break some sites until you loosen them, and a small volunteer team keeps it up, so Longevity and Delivery are a 3 each.
Using it means Firefox with the settings already tightened, and a loosening you do site by site when something breaks.
- Firefox that aims to remove all telemetry, with uBlock Origin included
- A community project
- The strict defaults can break sites

This badge reports a dated review. It is not a certification and it costs nothing. Link it to this page and leave the numbers alone: the image always shows the current score.

For comparison, we also reviewed Google Chrome (17/30) as a benchmark.
