Adobe Firefly

Adobe's image generator, built to be safe for commercial use and built into Creative Cloud.

Benchmark review. Giants are reviewed rarely, to show what the tools in the directory are measured against. This one is not listed in the directory, and it is an example, not a recommendation. Scores are our opinion on the six questions, based on public sources and dated October 2026.

Firefly makes good pictures and slots into the apps many designers already use, so Delivery is a 4. Adobe says its own Firefly image models are trained on licensed content, including Adobe Stock, openly licensed material and public domain work, and that the results can be used commercially. That is a clearer answer on training data than most of the category gives, and it is the main thing it has going for it.

It is a hosted service behind an Adobe ID, so it only works with a connection and an account. Adobe's page says you can start for free with daily generations and that paid subscriptions add more, and the same page lists partner models inside Firefly, such as GPT Image, FLUX and Google's Nano Banana, which carry their own questions because they are not Adobe's. Every generated image carries a small label saying it was made with Firefly. We list it as a yardstick for the open tools and do not recommend it.
