A drawer in many houses holds a separate hub for each brand of smart bulb. Zigbee2MQTT lets lights, sensors and switches from many brands talk to one adapter on your own computer, with no hub from each maker, and the devices and data stay in your home.

Zigbee2MQTT scores a 5 on lock-in, self-direction and power, a 4 on footprint and longevity and a 2 on delivery.

You will need an adapter and some tinkering, so Delivery is a 2.

The result is one adapter in one computer that every brand of bulb talks to.

    What stands out

  • One adapter replaces each brand's hub
  • Devices and data stay in your home
  • Needs tinkering

This badge reports a dated review. It is not a certification and it costs nothing. Link it to this page and leave the numbers alone: the image always shows the current score.
