Organic Maps
Offline maps for walking, cycling and driving, built on OpenStreetMap.
Instead of Google Maps

A hiking map in your pocket that does not need a signal is a fine thing to have on a ridge. Organic Maps downloads regions once and then works with no signal, using OpenStreetMap data, and it runs on Android and iOS. It needs no account, shows no ads, and is good for hiking and cycling routes.
Organic Maps scores a 5 on self-direction, a 4 on footprint, lock-in, power and delivery and a 3 on longevity.
CoMaps, also in this directory, started as a fork of it after a dispute over how the project was run, so check which one your community prefers. Live traffic is missing, as with every tool in this category.
It is free, with optional donations.
- Fully offline maps and navigation with no account
- Strong for hiking, cycling and walking
- CoMaps, in this directory, is a community fork of it

This badge reports a dated review. It is not a certification and it costs nothing. Link it to this page and leave the numbers alone: the image always shows the current score.
For dark backgrounds, use organic-maps-dark.svg in place of organic-maps-light.svg.
For comparison, we also reviewed Google Maps (17/30) as a benchmark.
