Mopidy is a music server for people who enjoy the setting up as much as the listening. It runs on a computer and plays music from your files, internet radio and other sources through extensions, and you control it from a web page or phone app. It is open source and runs on Linux and Mac, or on a server.

Mopidy scores a 5 on lock-in, self-direction and power, a 4 on footprint and longevity and a 2 on delivery.

It is aimed at people who like to set things up, so Delivery is a 2.

Having it means a music box in the house with as many sources plugged into it as you have patience for.

    What stands out

This badge reports a dated review. It is not a certification and it costs nothing. Link it to this page and leave the numbers alone: the image always shows the current score.

For comparison, we also reviewed Spotify (14/30) as a benchmark.
