Jitsi Meet is the video call you start by sharing a link, and the site's own words are completely free video conferencing for web and mobile. The code is Apache-2.0, built by the Jitsi team at 8x8 and a community, with apps on the App Store, Google Play and F-Droid. A post the site quotes from the Tor Project says no account is needed.
Jitsi Meet scores a 4 on lock-in, self-direction, longevity and delivery and a 3 on footprint and power.
8x8 owns the Jitsi trademark and sells a hosted version, Jitsi as a Service, so a company that earns from it keeps the project going and holds its trademark, and we counted both facts, one for Longevity and one for Power. The README points to a separate whitepaper for end-to-end encryption, and we have not read it, so we make no claim about it here.

This badge reports a dated review. It is not a certification and it costs nothing. Link it to this page and leave the numbers alone: the image always shows the current score.

For comparison, we also reviewed Zoom (16/30) as a benchmark.
