Zoom

The video meeting service that set the standard, run as a subscription.

Benchmark review. Giants are reviewed rarely, to show what the tools in the directory are measured against. This one is not listed in the directory, and it is an example, not a recommendation. Scores are our opinion on the six questions, based on public sources and dated October 2026.

Zoom is a hosted service, so every meeting runs through its servers. Its blog on AI data governance says it does not use any customer audio, video, chat, screen sharing, attachments or other communications-like customer content to train its or third-party AI models, and that safeguards apply to federated AI too. That is Zoom's own statement and we have not checked it independently.

We did not read Zoom's full privacy statement or terms, so this review is thin on purpose. Power is a 1 because one company runs the service and sets the terms, and the tools in this category take the other approach. As of October 2026 this is our opinion, based on public sources, and if you spot an error, write to hello@toolsforconviviality.org and we will check it and correct it. Compare it with the tools in Video calls.
