Ferdium
Puts your email and messaging accounts in one desktop app.
Instead of A dozen mail and chat tabs

A dozen browser tabs of mail and chat is a familiar way to spend a morning, and Ferdium puts them in one window. It gathers email and messaging accounts, from WhatsApp and Slack to Telegram, into one desktop app with workspaces. It is community-run free software, and you can host your own Ferdium server to keep your settings off anyone else's machine.
Ferdium scores a 5 on power, a 4 on lock-in, self-direction, longevity and delivery and a 2 on footprint.
It helps you live with the big messaging providers and does not take you away from them, and wrapping a dozen web apps in one Electron app is heavy on your computer, so Footprint is a 2.

- Community-run free software with a self-hostable server
- Helps you live with the messaging monopolies, not escape them
