ElevenLabs
The hosted voice service people reach for when they want speech that sounds human, paid for in data or money.
Benchmark review. Giants are reviewed rarely, to show what the tools in the directory are measured against. This one is not listed in the directory, and it is an example, not a recommendation. Scores are our opinion on the six questions, based on public sources and dated October 2026.

ElevenLabs makes speech that is hard to tell from a person, and that is the reason people use it. It runs on its own servers, so you send your text to the company every time. Its help center says it uses certain data you provide to improve the quality of its audio models for everyone, and that you can switch that off under Terms and privacy, then Data use, with the Improve the models for everyone toggle, and the change covers new data only.
The same page says that by default it does not train on any data from its Enterprise customers. Power is a 1 because one company runs the voices and the terms, and Delivery is a 5 because the voices are good. We did not read the full privacy policy. As of October 2026 this is our opinion, based on public sources, and if you spot an error, write to hello@toolsforconviviality.org and we will check it and correct it. Compare it with the tools in Text to speech.
- A hosted service, so your text goes to ElevenLabs servers
- It uses certain user data to improve its audio models unless you switch the Data use toggle off
- By default it does not train on Enterprise customer data
