KeePassDX opens the KeePass database format on Android, so your password vault is a file you keep and sync however you like. It has no account and no company server, and it is the Android end of the same kind of vault that KeePassXC keeps on a computer.

KeePassDX scores a 5 on lock-in, self-direction and power, a 4 on footprint and longevity and a 3 on delivery.

It is Android only, and syncing between devices is your job, so Delivery is a 3.

On a phone it means one file that you choose where to keep, opened by an app with no account behind it.

    What stands out

  • Opens standard KeePass vaults on Android
  • The vault is a file you own and move yourself
  • Syncing between devices is up to you

This badge reports a dated review. It is not a certification and it costs nothing. Link it to this page and leave the numbers alone: the image always shows the current score.

For comparison, we also reviewed Google Password Manager (16/30) as a benchmark.
